Local Idaho Wineries

With the sun finally deciding to come out from its winter hibernation, it is the perfect time to start planning your summer wine tasting tours this year in anticipation of clearer skies and better weather. In today’s blog, we want to celebrate a few fantastic Idaho based wineries that you can put on your wine tasting adventure map this year. Just remember to pace yourself and also don’t forget to share your favorites with us in the comments. We love to hear from you!

Potter Wines, Boise

They truly broke the mold when they created Potter Wines. Located off of Chinden Blvd in Garden City/Boise, Potter wines has an excellent full bodied award winning reds like their flagship offering “The Minx” and they even offer an out of this world jalapeno wine that will literally knock your socks off. It comes two ways, in a bottle as a white wine with a southwestern flavor kick and in a single serve pouch as a jalapeno wine lemonade that will surprise and delight your curious taste buds. Potter Wines also hosts real barn burner murder mystery dinners in which their delightful wines are center stage along with their eclectic cast of characters. You will definitely have a unique and good time here. More info on their website: https://potterwines.com/

Split Rail Winery, Boise

Just like Potter Wines, Split Rail Winery is also located on Chinden Blvd in Boise, however, that is where their similarities end. While Potter Wines will delight and astound your tastebuds with innovative takes on winemaking that push the envelope, Split Rail will delight you in a more traditional way, like a well-honed symphony or operatic ballad sung by a master of their craft. They pride themselves on being a minimal intervention style winery which puts the true flavors of nature on display with little to no tweaking from human hands. Mother nature is at the wheel here. They source exclusively from vineyards in Idaho and in the greater Pacific Northwest area. Fun fact, their tasting room used to be an old mechanic’s shop. Stop on by for an excellent glass soon. Fujishin Family Cellars, Caldwell

Located in the beautiful Sunnyslope area of Caldwell, Fujishin Family Cellars is a local treat that makes the trip from Boise (or anywhere else, really!) well worth it. After first opening their doors in 2009, Fujishin has been producing a stellar array of wines using locally sourced grapes from around the Snake River Valley. The view from their tasting area is simply breathtaking in the summer and fall and they offer holiday and group events that are a blast for your entire group. The Sunnyslope area has been referred to as the Napa Valley of Idaho, and once you get out there and see what they have to offer, you will believe it. In Conclusion

There are many languages around the world, but the one that can truly bring us all together from every walk of life is the language of wine. Enjoy your wine and your summer! Remember, no matter the time of year, there is always something fun to do around Boise and Meridian.
