Have You Been to Discovery Park in Meridian?

Nestled in Meridian on Lake Hazel Road just between Eagle and Locust Grove is possibly the most all-inclusive and wide-ranging park in the whole state, Discovery Park. Of the twenty six parks in Meridian, Discovery Park is by far the most impressive. Established in 2019, Discovery Park is a 64-acre wonderland with options for activities no matter what you are in the mood to do.

Sports

This park is a sportsperson's mecca. In one visit you can play a variety of different sports. There are basketball courts, baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, and a sand volleyball court. If you have been bitten by the latest sports bug and looking for a place to play pickleball, there are pickleball courts here too. A little more old-fashioned? Try one of the bocce ball courts. A little more extreme? Try the skate park and bike park, there is even a bike repair station to take care of any excellent wipeouts. Looking for something more fast-paced? Challenge a friend to a 40-yard dash and see your times projected on the marquee for all to see who the winner is.

Play

Have some little ones and looking for a park to really get them active? The play area at Discovery Park is like something out of an amusement park. The multi-layered playground area has an impact-resistant flooring to provide extra protection from bumps and bruises. There is a large sand area with tons of other interactive elements. There is a toddler-focused play area for the littlest explorers. For extreme play, there is a climbing wall for the kids and dual ziplines. Need to cool off in the hottest of months? Skip the expensive water park and head to the splash pad at Discovery Park. There is even a water feature that opens up in the sand area so that kids can experiment with water flow and erosion.

Relax

With all the high-activity options on hand at Discovery Park, you may need to take a moment to relax. There are plenty of options for relaxed fun. Take a stroll on the long walk path. Watch an evening movie or a band at the covered performance stage with lawn seating. There are several benches to sit at and watch all of the fun. Need to take a break from the sun? There are covered shelters to enjoy. They are even available to reserve for private events! Take your furry friends to the off-leash dog park and let them have a good run and get some relaxation. Bring your hammock along. There are poles installed at Discovery Park that are purpose-built to support hammocks.

Discovery Park has something for everybody and provides a great place for the family to recreate together. If you have not visited yet, be sure to do so soon so that you can see what all the excitement is about.
